The mobility of the future must be safe, environmentally friendly and flexible. It must also be simple, cheap and accessible to all, in order to maintain and promote the development of the cross-border labour market. Automation and intelligent transport systems play a central role in this context. All possibilities for improving the flow of cross-border workers must be considered. An interesting proposal developed within the TERMINAL project aims to set up an automated electric shuttle bus between France and Germany.

Die Mobilität der Zukunft muss sicher, umweltfreundlich und flexibel sein. Sie muss auch einfach, kostengünstig und für alle zugänglich sein, um die Entwicklung des grenzüberschreitenden Arbeitsmarktes zu erhalten und zu fördern. In diesem Zusammenhang spielen Automatisierung und intelligente Transportsysteme eine zentrale Rolle. Alle Möglichkeiten zur Verbesserung des Flusses von Grenzgängern müssen in Betracht gezogen werden. Ein interessanter Vorschlag, der im Rahmen des TERMINAL-Projekts entwickelt wurde, zielt auf die Einrichtung eines automatisierten elektrischen Pendelbusses zwischen Frankreich und Deutschland ab.

Hohe Prominenz gestern in Schengen.
Die Verkehrsminister aus Deutschland, Frankreich, Luxemburg und dem Saarland trafen zusammen, um das grenzüberschreitende Testfeld für autonomes Fahren im Dreiländereck offiziell zu eröffnen. Das erste transnationale Testfeld soll Industrie und Forschung gleichermaßen dienen Einsatz-Szenarien und neue Technologien über Grenzen hinweg auf allen Straßenarten zu erproben.
Bundesverkehrsminister Andreas Scheuer (CDU) sagte zum Startschuss zum trinationalen Testfeld: „Die Mobilität der Zukunft, die beginnt jetzt – und wir sind mittendrin“.
Auch die saarländische Verkehrsministerin Anke Rehlinger war zugegen und sagte:“Mobilität macht nur Sinn, wenn sie grenzüberschreitend funktioniert. Auf dem Testfeld testen wir wegweisende Schritte auf dem Weg zu smarten Mobilitätskonzepten”. Auch verspricht sie sich Einiges von den Neuerungen des autonomen Fahrens: „Die Ergebnisse werden uns helfen, die Bedingungen im grenzüberschreitenden ÖPNV besser an den Bedürfnissen der Kunden auszurichten“.

High notables yesterday in Schengen.
Transport ministers from Germany, France, Luxembourg and Saarland met to officially open the cross-border test field for autonomous and connected driving in the border triangle. The first transnational test field is intended to serve industry and research alike to test application scenarios and new technologies across borders on all types of roads.
Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CDU) said at the starting signal for the trinational test field: «The mobility of the future begins now – and we are right in the middle of it».
Anke Rehlinger, Saarland’s Minister of Transport, was also present and said: «Mobility only makes sense if it works across borders. On the test field we are testing groundbreaking steps on the way to smart mobility concepts». She also expects a lot from the innovations in autonomous driving: «The results will help us to better align the conditions in cross-border public transport with the needs of the customers».

Journée très remarquée hier avec beaucoup de personnalités présentes à Schengen.
Les ministres des transports de l’Allemagne, de la France, du Luxembourg et de la Sarre se sont réunis pour ouvrir officiellement le site expérimental transfrontalier pour la conduite autonome dans le triangle frontalier. Le premier site expérimental transnational est destiné à servir à la fois à l’industrie et à la recherche pour tester des scénarios d’application et de nouvelles technologies par-delà les frontières sur tous les types de routes.
Le ministre fédéral des transports Andreas Scheuer (CDU) a déclaré pour le coup d’envoi du site expérimental trinational : «La mobilité du futur commence maintenant – et nous sommes en plein dedans».
Anke Rehlinger, ministre des transports de la Sarre, était également présente et a déclaré : «La mobilité n’a de sens que si elle fonctionne au-delà des frontières. Sur le site expérimental, nous testons des étapes révolutionnaires sur la voie des concepts de mobilité intelligente». Elle attend également beaucoup des innovations en matière de conduite autonome : «Les résultats nous aideront à mieux aligner les conditions dans les transports publics transfrontaliers sur les besoins des clients».

Neue Gelegenheit für das Projekt TERMINAL sich bei Akteuren der Großregion zu präsentieren: Zur Auftaktveranstaltung im Rahmen der 17. Gipfelpräsidentschaft der Großregion am 25. März 2019 war TERMINAL als Aussteller im “Markt der Möglichkeiten” im Foyer des Saarländischen Rundfunks vertreten.

The television magazine «Wir im Saarland» deals weekly with current affairs and background information from the Saarland. The topics range from politics to society and economy.
On March 14, 2019, Prof. Wieker, head of the Research Group for Transport Telematics (FGVT), sat on the couch with moderator Christine Alt and in an interview, he told how automated cars can be used in Germany in the future and predicted, among other things, a change in the German transport system.

Dans une interview, il explique comment les voitures autonomes pourront être utilisées à l’avenir en Allemagne et prédit, entre autres, un changement dans le système de transport allemand.
